Welcome
Priory Voices was founded by its current Director, David Johnson, some twenty years ago. The prime objective of the choir was, and is, to continue and maintain the choral tradition of our cathedrals, by providing music for the services whilst the cathedral choir is away on holiday. Their reputation for the very highest standard of cathedral music-making has resulted in regular invitations to return. Over the years they have sung in virtually every cathedral in England – including Canterbury, York, Durham, Wells, Salisbury, Lincoln, Hereford, Lichfield, Chester, Liverpool, Ely and Christ Church Oxford. In addition they have ‘crossed the border’ to sing in Llandaff Cathedral in Wales, and Christ Church and St Patrick’s Cathedrals in Dublin.

Their wide repertoire of music extends from Renaissance and Tudor, via Stanford, Howells and Sumsion, to modern-day composers such as Brian Kelly, Richard Lloyd and Jack Hawes. They have commissioned a number of choral works, including ‘Rejoice!’ by Antony Pitts and ‘Psalm 150’ by Andrew Burr.
Their main organ accompanists are Keith Hearnshaw (www.keithhearnshaw.co.uk) and Paul Carr (www.paulcarr.co.uk)
